Valentine's Second Saturday ArtWalk

Having a dinner out with your honey on Valentine's Day? Stroll around downtown Ballard afterwards and visit the venues of ArtWalk. Pick up a sweet gift of jewelry from Venue, or Pottery by
Samantha Davis at His Word Found Here. Monster Art and Clothing and Sticks and Stones are both having artist receptions. Be sure to look to the west on Market Street - that planet you're seeing is Venus, the Goddess of Love.

Artist Reception at Monster Art and Clothing Valentine's Day

Join Monster for a special Valentines Ballard Artwalk as we welcome back one of our favorite local artists: Stasia Burrington Illustration. Her colorful creations are sure to brighten your day, and put love in the air. Get your sweetie an original piece of art, and meet the artist in person! Enjoy snacks, music and good cheer.

About the artist: Stasia (Kato) Burrington was born in Texas, grew up in Montana and now lives and works in Seattle with her favorite man and two cats.

She is a full time artist/illustrator. Her passions lie in the arts – in all forms, experimental cooking, camping, theology and science fiction, fat nerdy science books, coffee and ice cream.

Jennifer Lawrence Bennett Jewelry Featured at Venue for February

Jennifer Lawrence Bennett is a jewelry artist who uses sculptural elements on a small scale. The concept of light plays out broadly and subtly in her work, hence the name of her business, "di luce design," meaning of light in Italian. She incorporates raw materials like mica into her work because of its translucency, and plays with color gradation on silver and brass through oxidation.

The jewelry Venue will be featuring from Jennifer's collection for Valentine's Day (and throughout the month of February) will include trajectory necklaces, morse-coded pieces, and new earring designs inspired by her recent travel to Nepal. Shoppers will also find a small collection of vintage brass lockets hanging from miss-matched broken chains that have been mended. Chunky carnelian and trapezoid-shaped Tibetan turquoise will also make an appearance.
